Voice lane
Random voice chat on AnonChat pairs you with a stranger the same way video does — it just asks for your microphone and stops there. No camera prompt, no window showing your own face, nothing to install first.

The two are separate matching lanes, not one feature with a toggle. Here is what actually differs once you pick one.
No. Voice chat never opens a camera. If your device does not have one, or you have the lens covered, voice chat still works normally.
Not in voice chat. Nothing from your camera is captured, so there is nothing to send. They see your profile photo, and they hear you.
Once a microphone has been denied, the browser will not ask again on its own. Re-allow it in your browser or system settings, reload, and start over.
It is a separate lane. Text matching drops you straight into a chat thread rather than a call, so there is no microphone request at all.
You get a number of free matches to start with, and the counter is shown on the start screen before you use any of them. Beyond that, matches run on coins.
It takes a microphone and a tap. If you would rather see who you are talking to, the video and text lanes start from the same screen.
